2014 Anthony Cabernet Sauvignon
$30.00
Cabernet Sauvignon is not a variety that enjoys a warmer climate such as in our northern Barossa Valley region. However with good vineyard growing techniques and management, cabernet makes a lovely style of wine. 2013 was a warm growing season and with some supplementary irrigation the vines hung on to produce full flavoured grapes with natural acidity and balance. Matured earlier than normal the resultant wine has retained fresh fruit characters and soft tannins.
The wine has vibrant purple hues with garnet overtones and a brilliant clarity. Aromas of ground coffee, black currant and cinnamon spice greet you, followed by a touch of stewed rhubarb and black olive.
The palate is medium weight, showing fresh Cabernet fruit married in with balanced French oak spice and the finish is tight with soft tannins.
This wine is perfect at a cool temperature (12-14 degrees c) and ideal while cooking the BBQ, or when cooked with chicken or pork.
Varietal: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon
